13 Gift Ideas for Mother's Day for your "Elder Millennial Mom"!
This list of items are a mix of things that I personally have and love and things that as a 40-year-old woman I want, I can buy for myself but why not get them as gifts. Is this list for everyone's mom, maybe not but if your mom is an “elder millennial” just maybe this might give you some direction.
I use to be the mom that said get me whatever you want, but I realized that wasn’t only disappointing to me, it left my son and my hubby a bit sad as well. The expectation is that they know me, they are listening to me when I say I like that. Or they should have an idea when the shared Amazon cart has all the things that I want. I’m not trying to lump all men into this category, but they are not all wired like us, and thank God! However, they do need maps and guidance when it comes to getting us what we want and like.
This list should help also the mom who is like me with a bit of ADHD (always looking for that hit of dopamine) and a multipotentialite (many different passions). I refused to put any sort of journal or planner on this list because you and I both know she has many that are half-used (a bit telling of myself).
True to my love of black and white, most things on this list reflect that. My taste is modern, a bit classical with a hint of what is on-trend and a dash of playfulness.
Flowers, you can’t go wrong with flowers, but make sure the ones you get are the ones that are your mom’s favorite kind. It is at the top of the list because it is a fail-safe. Boring, maybe but if you search around you might find a flower company doing something a bit different than the regular shmegular dozen red roses. Your mom deserves a wow, even with your fail-safe. Urban Stems has beautiful modern arrangements.
2. A Bag, but not any bag: a backpack. I’m a backpack kind of lady, because I like my hands free when I go shopping. It makes traveling easier if you have a jet-set mom and if your mom still has a baby or toddler there is enough space and compartments to double as a diaper bag. The bag pictured is the smaller one. Here is the larger one that I have. I love this bag as it was on my Christmas list. I need to do a review of my Christmas list but I digress.
3. The Best Hand Cream ever, well it is my favorite, I might be partial as I worked here in my college years and I have not found one that can compare.
4. A Tumbler with a straw to keep drinks cold. Sometime I make a drink or smoothie and while focusing on project at hand I forget about my drink and when I come back to it is all weird and the ice is gone. So I think this tumbler would be perfect for the over focused to keep their drinks nice and cold.
5. Perfect Beach Bag, because summer is fast approaching. The grey and white striped bag is perfect. This bag is huge, and the handles are great to hold in hand or over the shoulder. At the time this publication was published, this great bag was no longer available online, hopefully, you have some luck in store. I placed an alternative bag in the link to shop.
6. A magical T-shirt, because no one wants normal. This t-shirt is my favorite but there are lots more to choose from all made by a Black Woman Owned Company.
7. To smell great is to be a mummy. This perfume lasts all day. It is fruity and floral but such a good blend that it is not overpowering, it is balanced and refined with a hit of whimsy.
8. To have a party where ever you go, or just listening to your favorite podcast. Because of its’ sleek body, it fits in anywhere.
9. Mom deserves some alone time. I would have listed some adult toys here, but for the sake of not embarrassing your mom too much, I think she could handle that part.
10. Jewelry. This spring/summer trend for jewelry are cuff bracelets, chain links and silver. This piece has it all, so it is right on trend.
11. Content Creation Kit. Because everyone can be TikTok famous. This is perfect for mom while she is documenting her craft.
12. Gift Card, so mom can always look her best. Not that she needs it. This guarantees no returns.
13. A Beautiful Vase for her flowers. This vase also can be a great home decor accent on a side table or on a shelf to bring some drama.
Have a great Mother’s Day with your mom.
